Mast

Forklift masts are the vertical assembly on a forklift that allows the forks to move vertically for lifting and lowering loads. They are a crucial component of the forklift and contribute significantly to the overall lifting capacity, stability, and visibility for the operator.

There are several types of forklift masts, including:

  1. Simplex (Single-stage) Mast: A single-stage mast has one set of rails and chains, which allows for limited lifting height. It is suitable for applications with low height restrictions and offers excellent visibility for the operator.

  2. Duplex (Two-stage) Mast: A duplex mast consists of two sets of rails and chains, allowing for a higher lift than a simplex mast. The first stage remains static, while the second stage extends upward to reach the desired height.

  3. Triplex (Three-stage) Mast: A triplex mast has three sets of rails and chains, providing even greater lifting heights. The two additional stages extend telescopically, making it ideal for applications with high stacking requirements and limited overhead space.

  4. Quad (Four-stage) Mast: A quad mast features four sets of rails and chains, enabling the highest lifting heights among forklift masts. It is used in specialized applications with very high stacking requirements.

Forklift masts usually incorporate hydraulic cylinders and chains to raise and lower the forks. The hydraulic system generates the force needed to lift the load, while the chains and rollers guide the movement of the forks along the rails.

When selecting a forklift mast, it's important to consider factors like the maximum lifting height, visibility, load capacity, and the specific requirements of your work environment. Regular maintenance of the mast, including lubrication and inspection for wear or damage, is essential for safe and efficient operation.
